Temporary Fixes To Dentures

Posted on

When dentures become loose or when they break, this can be a big annoyance. It can prevent you from eating, affect your smile, and can make life just a little bit harder. It may not always be possible to take your dentures in and get them repaired immediately. For this reason, there are some ways that you can temporarily repair your dentures until you can go and get them permanently fixed by a professional. There are a number of things that can happen to dentures. A tooth could break off or fall out, the denture could break in half, and many other things can happen. With a little bit of work, you can ensure that your dentures work properly so that you feel more comfortable.

1.  Super Glue. When a tooth falls out of the dentures or if it breaks off, you can often fix this problem yourself using super glue. You will want to follow these steps to make sure that you fix the problem correctly.

a.Take out the dentures and dry them off. You will not want to try and reattach the tooth while the dentures are still in your mouth as this will be less effective. You will want to remove them and completely dry them off. By drying them off, you will ensure that the super glue is more effective.

b.Ensure proper fit. You will want to make sure that the missing or broken tooth fits back into its spot perfectly. This will make it more useful and appear better as well.

c.Apply the superglue. Apply a small dab of super glue to the denture or broken tooth and quickly put the tooth back into place. Hold the tooth in place for a couple minutes so that the super glue has time to thoroughly dry.

d.Remove excess glue. There may be a little bit of glue that is on the outside of the tooth. Remove as much of this glue as possible before putting the dentures back in.

2.  Denture Repair Kit. Another way to temporarily fix your dentures would be to buy a denture repair kit from a pharmacy or a store. A denture repair kit will work much the same as super glue but will have better materials to use. They may also include new teeth or ways to fix small chips. These are a great way to temporarily fix your dentures.

These are just a few of the ways you can fix your own dentures. If the problem is too severe or continues to happen, you will want to make sure you take the dentures to a professional to get fixed.
